Thanks to the blockbuster Transformers Movies, transformers action figures are once again at the forefront of toy innovation. Probably the most impressive aspect of the toys over the years has been the engineering excellence required to turn the characters depicted in the animated series into working transforming toys.

The Transformer Universe has a fine long history, starting in 1984 with the Generation One Transformers. Optimus Prime and Megatron come onto the scene right from the beginning. The premise behind the transformers action figures is that an individual character’s parts can be shifted about to change from a vehicle, a device or tool, or an animal, to a robot action figure and back again. The Transformers are divided into two main factions: the heroic Autobots and their opponents, the evil Decepticons.
